SSD replacement options for ROCK

I have a Roon Rock on a Intel NUC Frost Canyon Tall I7-10710U. It has a Samsung 870 QVO 2000GB for the music. It has been running flawlessly for over 5 years. Lately is has had problem mounting after restarting the Roon server so I’m thinking of replacing the SSD. But the price of the same model is ridiculous in Sweden so I’m thinking of replacing it with a SSD with TLC NAND instead of EVO. For example a Kingston KC600 2 TB.

Will this be quick enough and work well?

Is it normal that a SSD stops mounting after 5 years use?

Could reformatting the Samsung SSD solve the problem?

Anyone else who have had similar problem?

I use Samsung Magician to keep my Samsung SSD nvme drives up to date and make sure they are operating satisfactorily.

My Intel nuc/Rock SSD falls into this category and Magician use keeps the disk running properly.

Thanks for reply. Unfortunately I’m on OS X and I don’t have access to any PC’s.

I was going to suggest the Patriot Memory P220 2TB Internal SATA SSD (TLC) as this is all you need for storing data that rarely changes.

But the price has risen from £87 in May 2025 to £195 today. Ouch!

However, since the drive is for media, and it is unlikely to have many writes other than the initial copy, I’d recommend using a TLC budget drive from a reputable brand. Read speeds far exceed what’s needed for steaming, too.
