Steps to Migrate to Nucleus

I couldn’t resist the deal on MusicDirect for the Nucleus+, so I ordered one and it will be here this week and I will be migrating from my current SonicTransporter core. I also purchased a SSD which I will install in the Nucleus.

After reading all the manuals and the migration guide, I plan to run the following steps to install and migrate to the Nucleus. One thing I am uncertain about is whether to restore the Roon Database first and then copy the music files, or to copy the files first and then restore the Roon Database.

Thoughts?

1)Backup and shutdown SonicTransporter:
a) Force Backup of Roon database on SonicTransporter (backup to USB drive)
b) Log out of Roon
c) Stop Roon Server on SonicTransporter

2)Prep Nucleus
a) Unbox Nucleus
b) Install SSD in Nucleus
c) Power up Nucleus
d) Access Nucleus Web Administration Interface from Safari
e) Stop Roon Server Software
f) Reinstall Operating System to update to latest firmware
g) Format Internal Music Storage

3)Restore Database to Nucleus
a) Access Nucleus Web Administration Interface from Safari
b) Restart Roon Server Software
c) Open Roon on Mac and connect to Nucleus
d) Don’t login, instead, select “Restore a Backup”

4)Configure Roon
a) Relaunch Roon on Mac and Login to Nucleus
b) Go to Settings > Storage and disable all current watched folders except Internal Storage.

5)Copy music files to Nucleus
a) Access Nucleus Web Administration Interface from Safari
b) Stop Roon Server Software
c) Go to Finder and Connect to smb://NUCLEUS/Data/Storage/InternalStorage
d) Copy music files to Nucleus (and wait for 2TB of files to copy)

6)Restart Roon
a) Access Nucleus Web Administration Interface from Safari
b) Restart Roon Server Software

7)Enjoy!
