Where is that artwork then stored? I’d like to be able to grab an image that I’ve previously uploaded in this way, and can’t for the life of me find it.
Thanks Mike, but that’s not what I’m trying to find out. I know how to add an image – you click that button that says “Add Image” and you’re able to do so. I’m trying to find out where it’s then stored.
Images are stored in 2 different places. One is the Roon database which Just a fellow user referred to and the other is the root folder of the album. The root folder image will be the only one you can edit or replace.
If the image is not in the album folder, then Roon will use the one in its database or none will be shown. Roon album art is album oriented and is not made for singles from different albums in a single folder.
If you upload an image using that button, Mike, it’s correctly displayed for the album. But, again, it’s not stored in the album folder, which I’ve confirmed both in Roon and in the Mac Finder.
The roon library is LevelDB based. Your jpg’s are stored there but it doesn’t help you much as there are no tools or means of indexing or searching. I have millions of jpg’s. This will vary depending on library size. I maintain a “Scans” folder for all uploaded art, including Qobuz replacements so I have a means of editing uploaded Qobuz jpg’s that do not fit into my local library folder structure. Over many years that directory has grown to many hundreds of jpg’s. Access is very clunky via roon but it is better than nothing.

(Here I am with a brain the size of a planet and they ask me to pick up a piece of paper. Call that job satisfaction? I don't.)

They are stored in their original format, using a new filename, in the Roon database under ROON_DATAROOT/RoonServer/Database/Core/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/images_1. They’re likely to be in the cache folder, too.
The x’s should be replaced with your server’s 32-bit hex number. Path may vary according to OS. See this:
