I’ve noticed a couple strange behaviors lately with Roon.
The first is sometimes Roon will display duplicate artists. If I long press on one of them (using iPad), both will highlight despite the upper left only indicating “1 selected”. Also, the content displayed when selecting each one is identical, indicating that the duplicates are in fact just one artist though Roon displays them twice. A reboot fixes this, but a few days later the issue returns.
The second odd behavior involves the Recent Activity “Played” screen on the Home page. Yesterday I played several tracks from several albums as can be seen on the History page
Rebooting does not recover the missing plays on the Recent Activity screen.
I sampled a couple of albums this morning and they were added to the Recent Activity “Played” screen, so I don’t know why most of my plays from yesterday do not show.
Btw, I noticed if I only play a few seconds of a track/album, it shows up on the Recent Activity screen, but not the History screen.
The same issue as the visually duplicated artists has been happening with albums for a very long time. There is a thread about it but I am lazy to search for it now
There were different issues in the beginning of the thread with Various Artist albums actually being split up into two albums with a part of the tracks in each. Then it was discovered that there were different cases of duplication and the actual VA splitting was fixed, but I think this one remained. It’s not so bad because it’s just a visual duplication like your artists (if you select one, both get selected and a restart fixes it for a while). For me, I think it happens only if I scroll around for a while, but it can sometimes nevertheless be annoying.
This is also related to the weird album count at the top of My Albums that is still sometimes reported, where it sometimes says „xxx of yyy albums“, and xxx is a larger number than yyy, which should be impossible.
Thanks again. I wasn’t expecting you to find it for me.
I’m glad to know it isn’t something wrong with my setup or database.
Today I’ve tried to duplicate the issue with recently played tracks/albums not showing up in Recent Activity, but it seems to be working normally so far.
I’ve searched for it many times before, I thought it would be easier and it’s a confusing thread because it started about something different, so I thought I’d give some pointers…
If I go to an album/track and select Play, it will show in Recent Activity “Played”. If I go to an album/track and add it to the Queue, then play it from the Queue, it will not show in Recent Activity “Played” (any subsequent albums/tracks in the Queue also will not show in Recent Activity after played).
Can anyone try this and confirm this behavior? Thanks!
At first I thought I can confirm this on EA B1644 and macOS client, ROCK, when playing from the queue. However, then it turned out that the plays do show up on Home > Recently Played, but not immediately. It takes a bit of time - not sure how long. Maybe it doesn’t show up while it’s playing:
I checked Home occasionally after starting an album from the queue. Played a few tracks and it didn’t show up in Home > Recently Played during this time.
Then I stopped the play, did something else for a minute or two, and there it was when I came back to check again.
In my case, the tracks played from the queue do not show up, even after play is completed.
I wonder if the new Scheduled Maintenance feature has something to do with it? I’ll try turning that off and see what happens, though I suspect I’m grasping at straws and it won’t make a difference.
OK, so still possible that the difference in behaviors is just down to this. Nevertheless, what I see seems incorrect, too. Do you want to report this in Support? Someone should
If I try to play a track/album that is no longer available in Qobuz, as expected I get the “not available in Qobuz” error message, however, Roon still adds it the the Recent Activity-Played screen.
Between this Played screen issue and the current Qobuz issue hosing up the Recently Added screen, my Recent Activity screens have become nearly useless.
