Hello, first post and I couldn’t find anything to in the search so apologies if this has been covered before.
Also this is not a new thing, this has been happening for a while (since I started to use Roon and persists across many versions )and it’s just now got to the stage of annoying me. I have multiple Macs on the same Wi-Fi network with the latest version of the Roon app. When I enable system output on one , the other client thinks it’s the same resource.
I am recreate this very easily. I can simply rename the system output to one and it automatically jumps to the same name on the other client.
they are seperate computers in separate locations, yet the app thinks they are the same
Interesting idea, but unfortunately, no, they were built entirely independently. One was built by me, the other is a corporately owned and controlled laptop With a separate Apple ID, I’ll note.
Neither have time machine run on them because I don’t trust it anymore (ARQ backup for the win)
server is linux based so not loosing anything on a rebuilt, will try
ok so prior installations were done via brew (brew install roon)
Followed the instructions to remove the .app then the two library directories (and empty trash) and then downloaded the app from the website and manually installed
inky (first Mac) - ran the app , connected to roon server , configured core audio with name Inky
Mac two - ran the app , connected to roon server , went to audio and its already configured with inky under the heading this Mac !
Okay, some has definately gone awry as the audio devices on This Mac should only list local hardware. You appear to have three systems listed, including two Dell monitors.
The only thing I can think of is that Brew will install Roon in a different location to the official package. However, that doesn’t explain why audio devices from other machines are listed on the local machine.
I think it would be best if you open a Support request, so Roon Technical Support may determine what is happening.
