I can also recommend the Sonicorbiter as a cheap way to expose your DAC to Roon across the network. I’m currently considering the Microrendu + Uptone LPS-1 as well for sonic improvements (but this goes straight into expensive territory). That being said, I’m a happy customer of Sonore / Small Green Computers.

IMHO yes a new DAC is overkill. The sonicoribiter or microrendu will do the job very well for a small fraction of the price. I would only go the new DAC route if you are unhappy with the performance of the Hegel’s DAC.
