My setup is Roon Core on an iMac Pro not in the same room as audio system. HQP is on MacBook Pro on same network.
iMac is on network → Aurender N200 server/streamer → T+A Dac200.
Roon has been working fine with the N200 as endpoint w/o HQP.
Steps I have taken:
Open HQPlayer5Desktop on Macbook
click on “allow network control”
In Roon setup->Add HQPlayer
Type in ip address of iMac (It is correct address)-- returns “HQPlayer has been added!”
In Roon Audio choose HQPlayer as audio zone
In HQplayer settings-- none of the choices for backend on either input or output have devices listed.
Furthermore, I realized that it doesn’t matter what I type in the box for the ip address in step 4), if I type in anything (is,dumdumdum), it returns “HQPlayer has been added!”. So that step seems to be doing nothing.
So, that’s where I’m at. I have spent hours searching for info, but am getting nowhere.
I would be beyond grateful for any help!
It adds a HQPlayer zone into Roon. You can have multiple. I recommend naming these accordingly from the Roon audio settings. You can then select which HQPlayer instance you want to play to, from bottom right corner of the Roon main interface.
I don’t think this one is going to work with HQPlayer…
In this case, in the Aurender N200. It would be installed in the device where DAC 200 is connected by USB, if it is not the same machine where HQPlayer is running. It allows you to move the audio endpoint outside of the HQPlayer server machine.
Oh thank you. Apologies for the duplicate (email and post), I wasn’t aware they would both be addressed by you.
Given what you told me, I think you are correct that the Aurender will not work although it is linux based. Maybe someday!
I just found this from 2021 and then there was not a way to directly use an Aurender server/streamer with HQP.
