Stuck in portrait mode

I have two Samsung tablets I use as Roon remotes. In “auto-rotate” mode (always on), Roon normally behaves like other apps; to go from portrait to landscape (or vice-versa) you simply change the way you hold the device. Normal, right?

My 2017 Tab A does this as it’s supposed to. My 2021 Tab A7 lite also did until a few days ago, but now it’s stuck in portrait.

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app; didn’t help.

Samsung just rolled out something called One UI. My 2021 tablet updated to it without asking me. My 2017 tablet is probably not getting updates anymore; maybe that’s why it still displays both ways?

BTW, all the other apps that normally go into landscape still do.

I recall similar issues being posted on reddit, but more toward phones. If I remember they had two limited workarounds - reboot or set your device to landscape only instead of rotate (if that is even an option).

I am pretty sure that portrait is all you get with any phone… I can certainly turn off auto-rotate (tried it) but that just leaves it in portrait.

This might be a clue: in portrait view, I can go to My Albums and only get 4 albums per page.
