Everything worked fine until I switched from combo modem/router to separate modem and mesh router. Now Roon can’t locate my DAC.
When I plug in name and serial number of DAC, system doesn’t recognize it but gives me three other Musical Fidelity options none of which seem to work. What am I doing wrong?
Roon will play on other audio outputs on my network but not through my main analog system.
@Albie_DelFavero, can you please provide more information on what you are experiencing? If I recall correctly, the V-DAC does not have a network connection, so how are you connecting it in your Roon system? It has to be attached either to a computer or a network streamer, and I am not certain how it is configured in your system.
I have a Eero mesh network set up for wi-fi. My rendu(the network streamer) is connected directly to the modem and my sonic transporter (my core) is connected directly to the mesh router. (If I connect the rendu to the router, roon cannot find my core.). The V-Dac has a USB connection to the rendu.
I use a Mac for my Core, so not sure how SonicTransporter configures the Roon Core. Do you have a fixed IP address on the ST Core, and have you rebooted your entire Core (not just the software but the actual SonicTransporter)?
Can you post a screenshot of the IP addresses of the connected devices on your eero router?

Roon needs to see the Rendu and then the dac afterwards if my memory of using a Rendu serves me correct.
What do you see in settings:audio?
Can you post a screenshot of this page.

Is it possible you now have two separate subnets going on?
They should have the first three sets of numbers identical if all are on the same subnet.
Is this the case?
In an attempt to determine if there was something wrong with my DAC, I purchased a new one, a Schiit Modi 3E which has a direct connection to my network streamer, an ultra Rendu. Roon connects to my core no problem—and I can stream through other speakers on my network—but I cannot play through my analog system.
Sounds like you have what is known as a double nat with two routers managing different networks. You core is on one and the endpoints and control on wireless on another and Roon cannot bridge across this common issue/mistake made with mesh system setup.
You have two choices. Either get your isp router into bridge mode so it acts purely as a modem but that might not be possible or move the eeros into bridge mode where your current router manages every thing.
You have two routers as you said this issue started when you added an eero mesh system. The eero is another router and acts as one creating a separate network to the one on your isp provided router. You say your rendu is connected to isp router and your sonictransporter isn’t. This is why it’s doesn’t show up. You need to connect the rendu to the same network as your core. What I posted explains what you need to do to get one network. Follow this or plug the rendu into the eero to get it on the same network and dont connect anything to the main router. This is your problem not Roon.
According to the specs of the SN(B?)8200, it is only a cable modem and has no router functions or WiFi. It only has two Ethernet ports (one for WAN and one for Link aggregation). Also, It can only connect to one device to give it a WAN IP, unless you ask for a second WAN IP from the ISP. It says that if you want to add more devices you need to connect a router to it, which in this case if the EERO.
All devices on the network should be connected to the EERO and nothing else to the Modem. (Unless you are doing link aggregation.) Even if you asked for a second IP you need to have all the devices you want Roon to “see” on the EERO. You may need to reboot the network starting at the modem after you have everything connected to the ERRO router to let the devices get new LAN IP addresses. If there are not enough ethernet ports on the EEROs you will need an unmanaged switch to expand the number of ethernet ports.
Nice spot. I assumed it was the usual isp all in one should have looked it up. But the results are the same the rendu isn’t on his main network so can’t be seen by Roon.
Thanks for your help. This all makes perfect sense and I’ve done everything you suggested. Both the rendu and the sonic transporter are connected to the router via an unmanaged switch. Still no audio through the DAC. Here are screenshots of the audio setup from Roon.
Never mind…it’s working. I now have two media room settings and switched to the other one and now everything is finally working. Really appreciate your help!
