Core Machine (Operating system/System info/Roon build number)
Yesterday evening I went to start up my system and play music from my Nucleus and it would not function. This was after three months of no problems. I got an error message saying that the Storage Files were offline. That was curious as there had been no changes in my system. All the connections were the same. Nothing had been changed. I initiated the browse command on the storage page a number of times and nothing worked. I unplugged the Roon thinking that might “reboot” things. That did not work. I gave up and went to bed.
When I woke up this morning I went to the controller on my iPad and, amazingly, things seemed to be back to normal. I could see my library and it looked as if I would be able to listen to music. Great, but, seemingly is the operative word. Seeing that the system looked to be back to normal I ran an errand with the intent of listening when I returned. Upon return I opened the iPad controller and was getting the same error message of the previous evening. Within the space of one hour it was not working. I went through all of the steps of the previous evening with the same negative result.
Now we get to the puzzling/troubling part. As I was writing this e-mail to you I had my iPad in front of me to the Storage page so that I could write in detail what the error message was. As I was typing the system started scanning files and importing them??? I have no clue as to what is going on. Do you have any insight as to what is going on. I had a prompt of a recent software update. Could that be an issue? Please enlighten me.
One other question. When I purchased my Roon I installed an SSD Drive so that it would function as as music server… I assumed the music files would be stored there and that would be the source of data the Roon would be using in Play Mode. If so, why does it need to scan the Music Files in my Mac Mini? Am I wrong?
Hope all is well where you are.
