Systems volume drops when phone rings

I don’t think my entire setup info is necessary for this - correct me if I’m wrong. Sometime recently, Roon began lowering the volume completely (I think - I don’t think it’s pausing play) when my phone rings. I have an iphone, and my macbook is configured to make and receive calls as well, so whichever controller I am using, all three endpoints I use are affected. I generally ignore phone calls, so this is not a feature to me; it’s a bug. I have hunted through settings but haven’t figured out how to turn this off. Please advise. Thanks!

iPhones automatically duck the music volume when the phone is in use. It should return to normal after you hang up/the call is passed to voicemail. It may be that MacBooks do this too, I’m not sure. I’m also not sure if it does this across all music apps, but I suspect it does.

its a feature in apple systems… it returns to normal if you answer the call. disable the call showing up on other devices if it bothers you.

Hmmm. It makes sense that it would affect the native Music app (which I removed), but I’m surprised it affects Roon. If I disable call functionality on non-phone devices, then messages don’t sync properly. Oh, the horror. What if all my devices aren’t in sync? COVID life has already irreparably altered my sense of time. I will be brave and carry on. Thanks for the replies.

In case anyone wonders, the setting is in Accessibility>Voice Over>Audio>Audio Ducking. Turned it off. Hope that fixes it.
