Tailscale ROCK Updates

I attempted a ROCK OS update today from the web admin interface (http://[rock-ip]) and it failed with this error:

Failed to update rock: node returned error: “failed to find cmd/tailscale binary: tailscale executable not found in expected place”

Some context:

· I was prompted to update after noticing Tailscale on my ROCK was still on an older version (I’ve been updating Tailscale across my other machines today and wanted ROCK in sync)

· Tailscale itself currently still shows as connected/OK on the ROCK Tailscale tab, so the machine hasn’t lost connectivity — it’s specifically the update process that’s failing

· This is a NUC running ROCK, currently on [Version 2.70 (build 1671]

· Everything is running well, but the update icon bothers me.

Thanks!

There will be an integrated Tailscale update facility in the upcoming RoonOS 3.0 (already available in Early Access).

In RoonOS 1.0 and 2.x, Roon Labs keeps an eye on it and updates Tailscale as necessary:

Thank you for confirming. And I’ll just wait for that stable release.

Best,

John
