Talescale Connection on Campus

I am on a campus network. My Roon server is set up properly in my home. I would like to use it on my Macbook in my office which is under a separate subnet.

So I successfully installed Talescale and got it working on my Macbook in my office. Now how do I use Roon and play music through my Macbook? I see that Roon Server is recognized with two different IP - one original subnet IP in my home, and another Talescale-generated one (100.xx.xxx.xxx). When I open Roon app on the Macbook, it picks up the Roon server on the original IP, and I don’t see my Macbook sound out on the Audio list. I am confused. Please help!

Tailscale is only for ARC, not for bridging the main Roon app across networks. And ARC is only available for phones, of course.

Ok. Thanks for the clarification. I guess this is another feature request for Roon App then.

There’s an open suggestion for an ARC version for PCs and tablets, and at least tablets are apparently on the roadmap.

There may also be one for using a VPN like Tailscale to bridge Roon RAAT over different networks but I don’t think this one will have much success as RAAT really isn’t made for the additional latencies.

Thanks. I just got the ARC working on my iPhone. This will serve well while driving. I didn’t bother to look into this until now because my old ROCK server was horrendously slow. Now with the new fast ROCK, I can enjoy this function. Cheers,

For work, I have a Roonserver installed on my.laptop. Don’t bother with physical files, just streaming.

I switch the license to my laptop at work and switch it back when I get home.
