The Cambridge English dictionary agrees with me as well, as it states: Risk is âthe possibility of something bad happeningâ
Possibility is a synonym of Probability. Thank you for your clarification of this word. Now when someone says what is the risk of rain I shall say the risk is high, meaning a high probability. CASE CLOSED.
My Teac tape deck sounds excellent with Dolby NR activated and powered by a ÂŁ10500 PS Audio DirectStream Power Plant. 80s music never sounded so good.
Youâre conflatating risk with chance / likelihood / probability. This is incorrect.
When we throw dice we talk about chance not risk. When authorities plan for floods, they consider impact and likelihood. Major incidents, for example, an aeroplane crashing in a neighbourhood, has high impact, but low probability.
Returning to data, disk failure, user error or viruses are more likely risks than flood, fire or war. However, the impact and the cost to restore data are varied. As is the time to recover.
Not true in the slightest.
It is possible that I might win the Lottery. It is probable that I will not.
CASE CLOSED
Probability has a strict mathematical definition if we are talking about the probability of rain. My basic statistics is too long ago to get into that definition.
Possibility does not equal probability in this instance Cambridge dictionary or not
Possibility is Boolean, probability has a finite value in this case between 0 and 100%
Since there is only one variable âloose recordâ or ânot loose recordâ Probability and risk are the same.

This is not true. In World War II radios where given away so that people could listen to important messages and music, this had the function of boosting Moral. Take Dame Vera Lynn for example, she was flown to the battle field to boost the moral of the soldiers. So Music plays a very important role during times of crisis.
There is nothing uncivil with what I have said, it is just a difference of opinion.
