I’m all in on Roon. It’s all I use for music playback in each of my two homes, supported by two lifetime licenses. Keeping the two libraries in sync used to be painfully fraught–until I discovered Tailscale. When I found it was integrated into Nucleus One, I purchased one for each house. Now I keep my master library on my desktop, and sync it periodically to the two endpoints using Tailscale. Simple.
I know the original motivation was for ARC connectivity, but in my life it’s the transformation of the syncing process that’s made the difference. Thank you!
This is, IMHO, an excellent post expounding upon an unforseen benefit of a new feature.
However it would be good if you could add detail of how you do the database syncing. I presume you still do it using database backup and restore relying upon the ability to see the remote Nucleus (and it’s smb share) over the Tailscale link.
Roon databases can be quite big. How long does it take to restore a database over the Tailscale link? What speed Internet connection (down-link and up-link) do you have at each premises in order to support a sufficiently brisk restore process?
