The Evolution Of My Listening Room

Please give a update of what you think about this chair. There are really good replicas but also some really bad ones also. I’m looking to buy - something

I did my homework. I had this chair in shopping cart for a year until I could sit in a real Eames chair.

But, sitting in a real chair doesn’t tell you about the craftsmanship, or even the feel of the replica. Looking at them, spending 1800 on a replica is not something I’d do, unless I can try out the chair I am really purchasing.

I hope it works out and look forward to your review of the ease of assembly and the feel of it.

Yeah there are so many replicas from very good to very crappy and it’s difficult to get a feel for differences from online reviews. These for the same price as the CurverK seem to have a good rep.

Or these:

No idea how they compare to the CurverK.

Problem is that the original costs >7000 :sad_but_relieved_face:

Exactly, and that is for just 1. I am curious what @Jim_F thoughts are on these if they are for real. Very hard to judge from online reviews.

Yeah, I’ve read some good things about the CurverK and some not so good :man_shrugging:

Looking forward to @Jim_F‘s always level-headed opinion, too.

It’s returnable for 30 days.

I could have gotten an Eames for $3500 with daughter in law employee discount.

Chair was $1599 with free shipping and no sales tax.

Bummer.

I was looking forward to a review. Was on their site looking at all the other chairs with the wife just now.

I hope you reconsider your hesitation to post a review. You having tried the real thing, we would love to know your thoughts on how it compares to the replica you bought.:+1:

Of course. I know this, but if I didn’t like the Eames, I certainly would not order a replica.

Chair is scheduled to arrive Saturday and Sunday. Ships in two boxes.

Looking forward to reading your review @Jim_F

Ignore the haters my friend. Some folks aren’t happy with their own stuff/life and try to drag those around them (or online) down.

As my mother kept telling me for 23 years, engage brain before mouth (or fingers).

I’m looking at a dedicated listening chair for another room in the house, and I’m interested in cheaper alternatives. These days quality doesn’t always come at high cost.

I can’t see any negativity or haters

My message was more for Jim as he felt some posts were negative, and I feel we all agree that we like Jim being part of the forum and enjoy this thread he created. :innocent:

I know, and I do. I didn’t understand his earlier comment about negativity regarding the chair either.

I’m excited for you, Jim! I have wanted one of those chairs for many years now and just haven’t done it yet. I think I would also get a replica like you’re doing as the real thing is just so expensive. The one you are looking at looks very nice. Will be curious to hear what you think of it once you’ve got it all put together and sat in it for a bit. Just such a timeless design!

That’s because I’ve been quietly lurking in the shadows. :joy:

Just received my chair pieces. Hopefully, the second box with all the hardware will arrive tomorrow. Did I mention that FedEx is horrible?

This chair is gorgeous. Hopefully it will go together easily.

Looks fantastic Jim, but it seems very low to the ground :winking_face_with_tongue::roll_eyes:
