The Evolution Of My Listening Room

Thank you! The chair looks really good.

OK, this chair is comfortable and great in all regards. That doesn’t mean you will like it, so make your own decisions.

My only worry with the higher back on the new chair would be blocking of rear wall reflections. And the closer softened reflections of the headrest :man_shrugging:

I was concerned about that, but I can’t tell any difference with my room setup. I have an NC State University blanket that I can use but I don’t notice a difference. It still sounds great regardless, so I don’t use the blanket with the Eames replica.

Got a dimmer for the string lights. Much better now. This is 50 percent.

I ordered this Chita Living Elvin recliner to replace my 25 year old Lazy Boy recliner in our family room. This is where I do my headphone listening and/or use the Bose surround sound system (mostly for TV). I know it’s very comfortable because my son has one that I spent many hours sitting in when we visited him in Denver last month.

My wife bought it for me because she really wanted to get rid of the old, brown, over-sized Lazy Boy. It should arrive tomorrow. I got it for US$850 plus tax, zero shipping.

EDIT: There must have been a price increase right after I ordered this. Maybe it was due to tariffs, IDK.

Wife is out of town, so Lucy and I decided to do some listening from our new Elvin chair and Bose.

Years ago, my wife’s father ran a furniture factory that made church pews. This is a sample they made that was in their home for probably 60 or 70 years, I think.

Moved my Nucbox G5 from the listening room to my server farm (main bedroom). It is connected by WIFI and I realized it doesn’t need to be in the listening room. I don’t really use it, but I keep it updated and working, just in case. I don’t use ethernet for it because I’m out of ports.

Another benefit of having it here, it’s plugged into my battery backup and surge protector.

Simplified Roon “away from home” listening room…

The wife wanted to make a quick trip to NC to visit relatives, so rather than drag a bunch of stuff, I’m just using my Dell laptop Roon server connected by Bluetooth to Apple Airpods Max (wireless). Data is provided by iPhone 13 Pro Max over 5G cellular. I really like the SQ with these Airpods even at the reduced resolution. And yes, I can use Roon ARC with my iPhone, but I prefer the full Roon experience when possible.
