Just returned from a trip to Cardiff so it would have been rude not to visit Spiller’s record’s (advertised as the oldest record shop in the world).
Thankfully they had a couple of copies of this left, after I removed it from my BandCamp basket last week. They wanted £32 for delivery on top of the £28 for the album.
Just playing the second side now and it sounds great.
Thanks for your input Mikael
It’s the only way I could get it to be close to the measuring tool provided (and another I bought to verify that as well).
With this setup vinyl sounds beautiful, so I have left it that way, even though I was not happy when I set it up.
When it was in a straight and what looked like a good position it wouldn’t play properly on the inner grooves.
Hopefully that makes sense.
Any advice gratefully accepted
It is the end result that matters, so if you find it sounds best this way it is likely damaged in some way. I have seen carts for over €10.000 with badly mounted and defective stylii. However, yours look like an Audio Technica from the finer range and they rarely make mistakes, in my experience.
To ascertain optimal mounting one must resort to oscilloscope and test-LP’s, but it is of course beneficial to first examine the stylii and it’s mounting under a microscope.
That’s exactly what it is, and while it wasn’t cheap, it’s also not expensive compared to many carts.
It plays very smoothly, but has never looked right to me position wise.
I will have another look when I return from my travels in a couple of months and try some different options.
Circumstances caused this upgrade from the SL-1210GR2 and it is, without a doubt, an upgrade!
The pictured player is the Technics SL-1300G, in black livré!
I’ve been watching reviews about the new delta sigma motor and the advantage of it with the 1200G platter. Now I’m seriously considering the 1300G as second turntable
Yes, i bought a bunch of them from Amazon. They were very good, and only cost me about €25 a piece. They have gotten a bit more expensive, but are really good. They allow for Azimuth adjustment as well.

Any of our vinyl addicts been following this “interesting” doohickey?
On a “sales”(say what?) site
" Limited Edition 2004 US Mobile Fidelity Half-Speed Mastered 7-track 2-LP Box Set, pressed on 180gram High Definition Virgin Vinyl at 45rpm, recorded live at the Green Mill in Uptown Chicago in July 1999, housed in a deluxe pasted & textured 12" picture box which is individually hand numbered on the back with the static free inner bags & full colour fold-out insert."
My Lenco L75 (bought in 1973) is back from maintenance, and has now a AT 740ML mounted.
Its attached to my Gold Note PH-5 and connected with my Eversolo A8 with Focal Alpha 80 Evo active speakers. A bit an overkill for a second setup, but the Lenco makes me smile again.
