I knew Mark Levinson (the man, not the company) back in the early aughts; he maintained all you needed was an RP3 (or equivalent), and a good cart.

Mark was insane about many things, but he may have been right about this.

Seems like he didn’t like his name very much:

An early one from Bill Frisell and one of his best. Basically the album that brought him to many people’s attention.

The future isn’t orange, but the vinyl is

I wonder when he finds time to sleep.
However on these albums I wonder what actual source they are using as I have a collection of Steven Wilson remastered King Crimson albums on DVD-A.
I can’t imagine they will be remastered yet again in all honesty.

You bring up a very valid point. In the midst of the current vinyl craze I would not put it past at least some record companies to be using their most recent digital remasters for the their latest “Newly Remastered” vinyl releases. After all, back in the 1980s during the rush to release CDs many corners were cut by many record companies and quite a few terrible sounding CDs ended up being released.

Today’s Vinyl Hour features an original 1972 100% analog fantastic sounding release. If you look closely you can see the little notch in the lower left corner of the album cover, meaning that this record was purchased as a low priced “cut out”. Lots of truly great records made their way into those cut out bins.

Ah, ‘Super Fly’, the first of the Black-exploitation films.

With a soundtrack that was better than the film.

They’re available for pre-order right now, at an eye watering $150 a pop.

Still, I am thinking these will sell out pretty quickly.
