"There was an issue loading your library" - PC

And what is now the current situation? What is your goal now?
The old computer with a working Roon installation but a now corrupted and thus unusable database and a new computer without Roon at all. Is this correct so?

You really need to read how Roon works before you go any further.

Your music files/folders aren’t corrupted. Roon never touches music files. The dataset that Roon creates to keep track of everything is what is corrupted.

Gawd no. You don’t need to get a second license.

Before you get more confused try looking at some Youtube vids.

BTW, this wasn’t me. You are replying to the wrong person -

Yes. I must have 10 characters otherwise my answer yes will not be posted!

Start reading about Roon basics probably, so you understand better what you are doing.
The knowledge base is a good starting point. There you can find documents about how to install Roon, importing your music and setup your audio outputs.
This is what you have to do on the new computer to get Roon going. You can also search for more/other documentation if needed using the search field.

Hello @John_F_Leonard ,

This is Noris from the Roon Support team here, thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear about the difficulties.

As others have mentioned earlier in the thread, errors like the one you’ve seen now are signs of low level corruption in the database. This means that the records Roon is reading from your database are different from what was originally written. This can happen for a number of reasons, like failing hard drives or an unstable power source (frequent outages, hard power cuts, etc).

We’re sorry you’re experiencing this extremely rare error: not only is our database infrastructure designed specifically to prevent this type of corruption, but starting with Build 880, Roon detects database corruption “on the fly”. So if corruption is detected during a backup or during normal use of Roon, you’ll be immediately prompted to restore from a backup.

What’s Next?

Install Roon fresh on your Core machine and rolling back to one of your older backups. You can use these instructions to do so:

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Restart/Reinstall the Roon App to generate a new Roon folder

Since you do not have any backups, unfortunately, the only solution is to start with a fresh database. Please, do let us know if you have any further questions regarding this, thank you.
