RoonServer on Linux Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS (GNU/Linux 6.8.0-100-generic x86_64)
In two days with a schedule set for 2am to 6am Roon has only gone through ~20k tracks of ~140k tracks.
Touching on this & this I’m curious if a schedule uses the CPU core setting when not using the schedule.
Hi, @andybob, thank you for your report. Could you please share a bit more details on that case:
- Was there a fresh import before your system got into this state?
- Is it a network folder or local/external storage?
- Is your system still in this state?
Thanks!

I’ve encountered a similar problem: if the background scheduler is enabled and I manually rescan a few selected tracks (or albums), the rescan gets stuck on the first track and there’s no way to stop it. Even if I shut down and restart the server, the wheel will continue spinning endlessly, always stuck on the first track. Only when it reaches the time set in the background work schedule will it disappear and actually perform the rescan.
All files are on local hdd
Windows 11
I saw similar issues yesterday. I wasn’t sure if I had caused it with an addition of an album cover, but, I could only clear the stalled scan by removing the relevant album & cover.
Hi @ivan ,
Apologies for the delay, I’ve now upgraded to B1632 on Roon Server and Remote. Still experiencing the never ending spinner as per screenshot above.
In answer to your questions:
- I haven’t loaded any new local files this year so the only import would have been via Qobuz;
- My local music is all stored on SSD within ‘muse2’ the machine running Roon server, so I think that would be local storage. I don’t have any folders on network storage or USB devices;
- Yes, same never ending spinner as per screen shot above.
I’ve attached a screenshot of my Storage window, you can see the spinner manfully spinning in the top right.
Would forcing a rescan help do you think ?
yes, no improvements with the new build 1632
Hi, @Daniele_Piancastelli, @andybob, sorry for the delay here.
@Daniele_Piancastelli, am I getting it right that the steps are:
- Be outside of the scheduled background work
- Open the Album editor from any network storage location
- On the first tab, press the “Rescan Album“ button
This will result in the infinite spinner on top.
Thanks!

Yes, that’s correct. The same thing happens if you select tracks and run “rescan tracks.”
Thank you for the reply, I can reproduce this issue and will pass a ticket to the dev team.

Jumping in and reporting that I’ve had the non-stop spinner ever since the Cloudflare issue started. Still occurring. Thanks all.
Hi, all! The latest EA build contains a fix for this problem which prevents Roon from getting stuck after triggering a manual Album/Track rescan. For those who are already in this state, this problem should disappear next time the background procedure runs. If that does not happen, let me know in the thread please.
Thanks!

It seems solved for me
Solved for me now…thanks @ivan
Thanks @ivan. The spinner resolved when I added some more local files.
I suspect that was because of the change you guys made to the latest EA build, but I can’t strictly confirm that because I didn’t try adding new local music before … doh!
