@ivan
With volume levelling enabled I should have -5dB when the loudness is unknown. It remains at 0dB as seen in the below screenshots. The same behaviour is with CarPlay, Bluetooth headphones and the phones speaker. The same for Android. This behaviour occurs with streaming content locally as well as downloaded for offline use.
Hi, @Mr.Flibble, thank you for the report. I am sorry, from you screenshots, I cannot tell consistenlty if the loudness for this track is unknown. However, I will take a look at the files I have and will compare the results I get in Roon vs. Roon ARC
In the meantime, could you please clarify the following:
How did you figure out that these tracks don’t have the Volume Levelling data? Did you do this via Roon → Show file info? (see screenshot)
If you play the same track in Roon with the same volume levelling setting, which result do you get in the signal path?
Got it, thank you for the response, @Mr.Flibble. I investigated this one It appears that it’s not a recent problem, moreover, it seems to be a UI issue, the volume levelling is applied when the loudness is unknown, but it’s not reflected properly in the UI. Or do you observe inconsistencies in how the setting is applied as well?
I also created a ticket for our dev team to investigate the nature of this issue as well.
I mainly use Roon/Arc without VL, but as I’m on EA I thought I’d test things from a user perspective to see if there are any errors. I’d need to listen again with and without to determine if it is functioning correctly.
I’m impressed with progress, just a few UI niggles for me.
Update: when it reads 0dB with VL enabled I do not hear a reduction when it is known in Roon to be reduced.
