Hi, I’ve just returned back from three weeks holiday & on staring Roon & playing osngs/albums from Tidal through Roon it seems that in the drop down (little star normally) next to start, fast forward, back, Roon seems to convert the source from FLAC to AAC but the rest of the info seems to be OK, I initially did this through an IFI Signature One DAC, then I tried an album on my Eversolo DMP-A6 ME which was 24 Bit 48kHz, again on the little star it showed the source converted from FLAC to AAC but the rest of it showed as 24Bit/48kHZ also when I pressed on the spinning cd top right and it opened up all the information it showed as FLAC 24bit/48kHZ it only appears in Roon on the source in the drop down.
Please post a screenshot of the signal path
Are Tidal settings stream settings set max?
It’s not converting anything your pulling an AAC stream from Tidal. You have the wrong settings in services or the file is AAC. Not all albums tracks are lossless in Tidal. As others have said check you Tdial
Settings are set to Max in Service settings for Tidal. If they are then the file is AAC on Tidals servers and nothing can change that.
It could also be the case that TIDAL has more than one version and you happen to be playing the AAC version in Roon.
I have moved this to a more relevant category as it is not a support issue.
As others mentioned, the AAC is coming from Tidal. Check Roon > Settings > Services > Tidal > Edit > Streaming quality. Is it set to Max?
Hi, do you mean the settings for Tidal in Roon, all the settings in Tidal itself are on Max & as I said when you look at the settings in a Tidal album it is FLAC not AAC this has only happened whilst I have been away & there has been two new updates, on my eversolo it is showing it as FLAC 24bit/48kHZ which is Hi-Res but in the signal path in Roon it show’s AAC I have not changed any settings in either Tidal or Roon, before or after the updates & before I went away it was working perfectly. When I use Qobuz everything is good its only Tidal.
Yes in Roon
Hi,
I will look at this when I get home, but is this in the general settings, my Roon still has “treat MQA as better than anything” I would have thought as Tidal I believe are slowly doing away with MQA that Roon would have changed this in one of their updates.
It’s exactly where I wrote that it is. This has nothing to do with the MQA treatment
Thanks for the help, this cured the problem I haven’t looked at this setting since I first set up Tidal.
Regards
Adrian
Tidal changed their subscription plans a while ago, in relation to their outphasing of MQA. The new Max plan includes hi-res FLAC, so this has to be set up in Roon to make use of it.
