Description Of Issue

Recently I noticed that one or two Tidal albums added as FLAC quality are switching to AAC in my library.
It’s like the third in two weeks. I have to remove it and add once again as CD quality. But doing that, all playcount information are lost and the album is marked as new.
I also noticed that at least one Tidal album (Florist - If blue could be happiness) in my library can’t be played, an error message stating that the tracks are not available. On the album page, the tracks are not marked as unavailable, and the album could be played with the Tidal app.

Tidal and other streaming services swap out albums all the time.
You notice it in roon especially if you have added the album to your library as roon only plays THAT specific version, so as to retain any editing you have done. If Tidal swap it out and effectively change its identifier then roon loses track of it. There may well the same album available but it’s not the same as yours, hence the need to add it in again.
The format changes are probably due to licensing changes.

I tried to remove and add the unavailable album again in my library ( Florist - If blue could be happiness if anyone can/want to try), but after clicking on the Add to library button, the album page disappears with the message This album has been deleted instead.
As the album is still available in Tidal app, I don’t understand what is happening.

The last album affected was Yves Tumor - Heaven To A Tortured Mind which was just released last week. I doubt this album was the subject of license changes.

Anyway, if someone experiences currently the same kind of problem or if someone of the Roon team has an official explanation, feel free to update this thread.

Hi @dylan,

unfortunately I deleted and added once again the album that switched from CD to AAC quality. If it happens again soon, I’ll share a screenshot.

For the album that is not available, here’s a screenshot of the error messages :

It could be a regional thing. My Tidal is US and I am getting the CD version of Tumor’s newest.
