I’m streaming Tidal Hi-Fi. Should I turn on volume leveling on or off. When I have it on streaming signal path goes to lossless. When it’s off it’s high quality and converts from 16bit to 24 bit pcm. But turning it off music sounds louder and not muddy. Please explain. Thanks!
Turning on volume leveling, by definition, means you are not getting a bit perfect stream and lesser quality output, imho. Roon applies a negative db level to the normalized volume to prevent clipping, so the normalized stream should not be as loud. See this link.
