Description of Issue

I have been getting “TIDAL media is loading slowly” errors, with Roon skipping tracks pretty consistently for the last several days. Any time I’ve immediately switched over to stream directly from Tidal, I have had zero issues there (also no issues streaming HD video, browsing websites, etc).

Can someone please help me troubleshoot the issue?

@support any ideas here? This issue is rendering Roon entirely unusable for me; I’ve been using Tidal directly the last few-to-several days.

Hey @Paul_Huett,

Thanks for taking the time to write in! I wasn’t able to enable diagnostics on your core device, would you be able to reproduce the issue and use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

I’ll be on standby for your reply. :+1:

Just uploaded. The file said it was modified today after I reproduced the issue. I went to play an album; the first track played for less than 30 seconds; the aforementioned error message popped up; Roon auto-skipped through the next few before landing on the 5th track, which started playing but I couldn’t hear any audio; I hit pause to try to pause and replay to get back some audible sound, but instead of pausing it skipped to the next track, which I could hear and played for less than 30 seconds before skipping through another few tracks, did the “play song but with no audible audio” thing again; I hit pause again, it skipped to the next track and eventually skipped through the rest of the album, at which point I closed Roon.

Hey @Paul_Huett,

Thanks for the update! A few follow-up questions for you:

  1. If you play audio from the system out of your mac rather than your typical endpoints, does the issue still exist?
  2. How is your core connected to your router? Please temporarily hardwire it via ethernet to test if dropouts occur.
  3. If you disable auto analysis in Roon Settings>Library, do you continue to experience dropouts?

Lets refresh your RAATserver database if none of the above help:

You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder
