Roon is unusable for me. It is constantly saying "Tidal media is loading slowly“ and skipping tracks.

Im using Chord Poly with Mojo 2, Eero 7 mesh. My Roon server is getting consistent 700Mb per sec DL, 30Mb UL. I am running PingPlotter Pro connected to 8.8.8.8 and see a reliable steady connection, even though Roon is dropping Tidal stream. My DNS on Roon Server (Windows) is 8.8.8.8.

Can you check my logs and see why this is dropping?

Hello @Tom_MacLean1 ,

Thanks for reaching out. We’ve activated diagnostics on your account and it looks like when the issue occurs, the buffer is at 100%, meaning the issueis getting data from server to the poly. Do you have band steering enabled? If so, can you try to turn this off? If you play to your NUC HDMI/3.5, and then to a local output such as your Macbook speakers, do those zones both work as expected?

Hi @Tom_MacLean1,

It’s difficult for a ping test to determine how the mesh network will sustain the long-lived encrypted TCP streams Roon uses for playback with the Tidal API. We need to look into how the mesh network is handling traffic along the specific pathway from the Chord back to the internet.

The Chord doesn’t tolerate the aggressive band steering that Eero networks might perform out of the box. Is this Chord endpoint wired via Ethernet, or are you relying on WiFi?

Try to disable the following features in the Eero settings:

  1. band steering
  2. any “gaming and conference optimization” or related settings
Also try forcing your devices to a single band (2.4GHz).

Is your RoonServer machine hardwired to the main router, or to a mesh node?

Can you please provide the name of a track that dropped out for us to pinpoint the event in logs?

Lastly, can you replicate the error playing to your System Output or another Zone?

We’ll watch for your reply. Thank you!
