Describe the issue

Most TIDAL songs fail to play properly — they sound distorted, play for a few seconds, skip to the next track (which is also distorted), and then the app freezes. This issue occurs on multiple devices, including my iPad, Mac, NAIM ND5 XS2 streamer, and Sonos system. It also happens across different apps/devices such Sonos. I’ve attached a file of one of the affected songs for reference.

Hi @Norman_Khumalo ,

Welcome to the forum! Can you please check your Roon Settings → Services → TIDAL → Streaming Quality. What is it currently set to? Can you try setting it to the Max sample rate available there?

Thank you. I changed the setting to Max Sample Rate. The solution is working so far. However, 96 kHz or 192 kHz songs are showing as 44.1 kHz on my DAC.

Hey @Norman_Khumalo,

Glad to hear things are playing smoothly!

Could you please share a screenshot of your signal path when this is happening?

I’ve attached the signal path screenshot. I do not have this problem when I play Qobuz or Tidal on the Naim Focal app.

AirPlay can’t do hi-res

Hi @Norman_Khumalo ,

As @Jaap74 mentioned, Airplay is limited to a lower sample rate. To get the higher resolution output, you’ll need to enable Roon Ready mode for the device under Roon Settings → Audio and then switch to the Roon Ready output using the zone picker. Let us know if this solves the downsampling behavior!

Thank you very much. The solution worked.
