Describe the issue
I had a problem with my local network 3 weeks ago. This has been resolved. The only way I could get my RoseHiFi 150B to work was a factory reset. The firmware (Rose) then also had an upgrade. Since then, when streaming Tidal through Roon no song ever plays in full. Half way or two thirds through a song it stops and goes to the next track. At first I thought the damaged Red Sea cables might also be an issue. However it is now 3 weeks on and I still have the same thing. Rebooted Rose a few times and rebooted my computer (Roon core) a few times as well, no change.
Describe your network setup
Network devices are Ubiquity Gateway, switch and service points. All the same for the past 5 years.
We’ve attempted to pull diagnostic logs from RoonServer but your machine or server instance appears to be offline. At your convenience, please open Roon for at least one hour to allow logs to populate automatically on our end. We’ll be equipped to troubleshoot much more efficiently once we review the RoonServer logs, which will detail the playback dropouts and the relevant responses from Tidal’s servers.
Just to clarify, these dropouts only occur with Tidal, and only occur with the 150B Roon Ready endpoint (not System Output on the Mac, for instance)?
Thanks for letting us know that there’s been an improvement in behavior. We are aware of launching issues requireing multiple attempts when using MacOS Tahoe and the dev team is presently looking into this.
Hi Conner, I am still having all the same issues. I am not sure about the drop outs. My MacBook Pro is my Roon Server and I only stream Tidal through Roon. When these drop out happen it I scan it on both the Rose 150 screen and on my laptop. The song just stops playing at random times, then every thing is quiet for a short while and then the system skips to the next song.
Can you please let us know the exact local time + date + track when you next experience this behavior? We’ll take a look to see if diagnostics come in and we can pinpoint the issue in the logs for clues, thanks!
Hi Noris, I logged on at 17h34 local time (Dubai). I chose a Tidal My Mix to play. Clicked play, dead silence for a while, skipped the first and the second song altogether. The album art appeared on the RoseHiFi 150B but the song did not start. then it started playing the third song.
It just stopped playing at 2 minutes 53 sec in. Unlike previous times it did not skip to the next song, but showed the music queue is empty despite the playlist having 40 songs in it.
Hi Benjamin, unfortunately I have never tried playing music from the MacBook Pro. Since I started using Roon and Tidal (around May/June 2023) I have only ever streamed through the HiFi Rose 150B. A side note: I ran the Mac Tahoe upgrade last night, still took me 5 attempts this morning before Roon opened.
To exclude the possible problems with the network, would you kindly let us know how the Rose is connected to the network, Ethernet or WiFi?
Do you see the same behaviour using Tidal directly on Rose?
Are there any problems with the local playback, as @benjamin mentioned?
I have tried both Ethernet and WiFi connections. I had the same trouble with no real difference between the two. Unfortunately I am on holiday at present till the 19th of October. From memory I think it happened as well with Tidal direct on Rose. Unfortunately I have never tried local playback to date.
Sounds good @docreino63, we’ll still want to further investigate your network, so when you’re back, please attempt playback from the system output of your MacBook.
You can head to Roon Settings > Settings > Audio > Enable your system output as a zone.
Hi Vadim, I am back home now. I connected to Roon this morning and started normal streaming through the Rose 150 B and had the exact same issue with the drop outs. Then I switched the system output to my MacBook Pro. I have tested playback on the MacBook Pro for a few hours today and did not experience the same issue.
