Music from Tidal stops playing in Roon. I have to manually resume play in Roon. I don’t know if it’s also the case for local files.

Thanks for reaching out. Can you please let us know the exact local time + date + track when the issue next occurs? We will enable diagnostics for your account to look over the specific errors.

Can you confirm if lower-resolution content also has this issue? You can set the maximum sample rate in Roon Settings → Services → TIDAL → Streaming Quality, please try to lower it there and see if the stoppage still occurs.

If the stoppage does not occur with lower resolution, you may want to try to change your DNS server on your router, as we have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS.

Thank you for your patience.

A few errors occur around that timestamp in RoonServer logs, although Tidal playback itself doesn’t appear to be encountering issues.

RoonServer experiences a critical out-of-memory exception associated with mDNS network discovery - although it doesn’t affect performance, it probably interrupts the network discovery cycle, prompting Roon to tear down and rebuild any networked Zones.

There are other undefined network disruptions causing teardowns with networked Zones, as well.

We’ll need a little more information to continue from here. Please answer the following at your convenience:

What is the Zone you’re using with Roon when you encounter playback stoppages with Tidal?

Have you reproduced the issue with local files since your first post, or is this still limited to Tidal only?

Do you see any popups/errors in the Roon UI when this occurs?

More importantly, do you see the Zone to which you’re playing disappear and reappear?

We’ll watch for your response. We’ll keep logs activated remotely - please share any additional timestamps of playback stoppage events in the meantime, and we’ll inspect those events.

Hi thanks again for your help. I found a solution to my problem, which was ro move Roon Core from my old Mac mini running Ubuntu to a more recent Mac mini running MacOS. Everything is running smoothly now. You may close this ticket.
