Tidal Playlists Not Syncing Correctly in Roon (ref#PTN99R)

Describe the issue

Tidal playlists are no longer syncing correctly. Roon keeps syncing my Tidal playlists from a few weeks ago. When I delete and rename playlists in Tidal, these changes are not coming over to Roon. When I try to delete Tidal playlists in Roon, they reappear in Roon some time later. It's as if Roon is syncing a snapshot of my Tidal playlists from a few weeks ago. This started happening sometime between when I followed a couple of Halloween-themed Tidal playlists in October and when I tried to unfollow them in November. These Halloween playlists keep coming back like zombies! I have tried manually syncing Tidal and disabling/reenabling Tidal in Roon settings.

Describe your network setup

Orbi Pro router, roon core connected through a netgear gigabit ethernet switch

Screen shots showing the Halloween playlists that keep coming back as well as the Roon count of Tidal playlists (27) vs. the playlist view on Tidal showing only a count of only 24 playlists (4+3+2+12+3)

Hey @Andy_Spinks,

Thanks for sharing your issue!

We’ve enabled diagnostics for your Roon Server, are you seeing any other errors outside of Tidal not syncing correctly?

As a simple next step, could you please safely stop Roon Server, and then bypass your network gear with a direct router connection, and reboot both your server and router?

I’ll be curious to see if you see the same issues afterward. We’ll be on standby for your reply! :raised_hands:

Thanks, @benjamin. I could not convince myself that an unmanaged network switch could cause this issue, so I tried a few other things to troubleshoot:

  1. I installed the server software update that came out yesterday, but the issue remained.
  2. I tried adding a track to a Tidal playlist in Roon, and it successfully added the track to the playlist in Tidal.
  3. I tried renaming a playlist in Tidal, but the name did not change in Roon. I have noticed in the past that renaming playlists in Tidal would not “stick,” i.e., the name changes would revert back. However, Roon was not showing the new name even temporarily at this point.
  4. I logged in to Soundiiz to make sure I didn’t have anything synchronizing in there that might be causing a problem. For good measure I disconnected my Soundiiz account from Tidal. Still no change.
  5. I created a new playlist in Tidal and synced. This not only added the new playlist in Roon, but it also made the two “zombie” Halloween playlists to disappear from roon! Problem solved? Sorta…
  6. The playlist I renamed in #3 was still showing the old name in Roon. I added a track to it, and after syncing, the new track AND the new name came over to Roon.
  7. I went back and deleted the playlist I created in #5, and that deletion synced correctly to Roon.

Maybe the issue is resolved, but previously those zombie playlists would come back after a period of time. If you could keep diagnostics turned on and keep the ticket open for a few more days, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi @Andy_Spinks,
We will definitely keep this thread open for you. There’s 14 days before it automatically closes. Hopefully that is enough time to ensure that the syncing problem is truly gone. Please let us know if it returns before then.

I am having a bit of a challenge with copying Roon playlists to Tidal. I have previously completed this successfully with several hundred playlists; so I am wondering if there is a problem, or is something I recently am working on has caused it (see below), any help would be most appreciated. Don

  • Recent Activity: I am switching over from running Roon on my Innuous Zenith to running it on a PC. I made the swap to PC yesterday; then today switched back to the Innuos as my Roon server. Following this swap and swap back I tried the Tidal copy and it did not work
-Update: swapping back and forth must be the cause, because I just tried to change a playlist (delete a song) and Roon did it, then reversed it; so no change can be made to Roon playlist. Is there something I need to do to get Innuous fully back as the core?

Hi Don,
This sounds like a different issue than mine. I would recommend entering a separate support request for it:

Sounds good @Andy_Spinks keep us in the loop! :+1:
