Describe the issue

I've recently been having trouble syncing tracks with Tidal. It only shows 49 tracks, even though I have about 1,000 in my collection. I haven't changed any settings, and this issue occurred suddenly after years of perfect functionality.

Hi I have a Lenovo M73 which is fairly old PC on which I run ROCK. recently I noticed my Tidal was not syncing with Roon and i couldnt add any songs to my Library via Roon (Qobuz works fine!)…so I clean installed an older version of ROCK .iso that I had (V1.0 Build 227) which I then updated to Build 259. It is worth noting that the latest ROCK version didnt book on this old HW. I wanted to know two things:

  1. Is is safe to keep using the ROCK V1.0 Build 259 and will it still receive updates for the foreseeable future?
  2. Is there a plan to fix the Tidal issue and if yes, whats the ETA and would i be getting that fix considering my ROCK SW version?

Thanks

Yes. this is the current version for installations in BIOS mode. If they ever abandon it, they will tell us.

Yes but it seems to be tricky. Your post was apparently moved to this thread here, which is the official tracking & announcement thread for the Tidal issue. A prospective fix was made available in Early Access testing but is apparently not successful (or not entirely), and this was not the first fix attempt, so it may not be quick

I’m just the messenger. Obviously it is not simple or it would already be fixed. You and I have no clue how hard it is because we haven’t read the code. E.g., it might only affect certain libraries but making the issue occur might require more than just loading a potentially affected library.

Thanks for the response. Thats strange really! I have been using Roon for around 5 years and both Tidal and Qobuz used to sync just fine. I wonder what they changed that cant be undone. Is this a change from Tidal’s side? Seamless streaming service integration was the reason I came to Roon in the first place as I dont have local collection so to speak…

One more question and this is a strange one: After the fresh installation i.e. wiping off the ROCK disk/SSD and doing a new flash of ROCK OS on it, the added songs history seems to be still intact. Shouldnt both Played and Added songs history be wiped out as well since the Db folders were are wiped clean with no back or restore in place/done?

Just adding my name to the list of affected users. I usually just watch from the sidelines but if it helps to know how many of us are affected by this issue, add one to the total.

Describe the issue

**Subject:** Unable to Add Albums from TIDAL to Library (Windows System)

Hi Roon Support Team,

I'm experiencing the same issue as described in https://community.roonlabs.com/t/post-update-loss-of-recent-library-albums-and-inability-to-add-new-albums-ref-i32r4w/300993 I'm unable to add albums from TIDAL to my Roon library. However, in my case I'm using a **Windows machine**, not macOS, and the issue does **not** affect local files – it only concerns **TIDAL albums**.

When I try to add an album from TIDAL, it happens like the description in the thread

I’ve already tried the following steps:

* Rebooted the Roon Core
* Logged out and back into TIDAL
* Clicked *Sync Library Now*
* Checked network connectivity

Unfortunately, none of these resolved the issue.

Could you please look into this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,
\[Your Name]

I’ve moved your post to the relevant Support thread. This is not dependent on Windows or MacOS, but is a Tidal issue in Roon.

Also adding my name as having same issues - hoping for a fix soon - missing a couple of thousand Tidal tracks currently. Thanks.

Adding my name too. I signed up for a 3 month paid trail offer so that I could try Roon again as trying to understand the value. I only plan to use it with Tidal so at this point I’ve had no chance to actually try it the way I planned to.

@Suedkiez Looking at your quote in the separate Tidal v Qobuz discussion,

Could you explain to all the affected users in this thread, why it is not the ‘end of the world’ if none or little of their Tidal library shows in Roon?

  • Is there a workaround we are missing?
  • Is your view also shared by Roon developers or are they still actively working on this issue?
  • When can we expect a further release to try and fix this in early access?
  • What can you share on Root cause of the issue and why it is taking an inordinate amount of time to fix?

@Jonathon_Lawrence,

I am just a user and this is my opinion. There is obviously no expectation whatsoever that Roon Labs should share my personal opinions, I have no idea why you’d think otherwise. For Roon‘s statements on how they are working on the issue see further up in this thread.

It is my opinion because there are other ways to play music through a streamer and not being able to access Tidal albums in the Roon library for a while is simply literally not the end of the world. (If you think it is, I recommend watching the news).

I believe it’s still possible to choose Tidal albums though Roon > Tidal anyway, it seems only the library is affected?

If one cannot tolerate any such outages, then I wouldn’t recommend using either streaming service with Roon because these are complex interfaces to a third party. Such issues happened before and they will happen again.

Of course, it is not literally the end of the world but such comments give impression the issue is not being taken seriously or with little priority. This can only compound the frustration expressed by many when they are paying for a service that is of little use to them.

I have wrongly assumed you are more a ’superuser’ and active early access tester from nature of your posts and may have had more to share but clearly for the answers we are looking for we have to wait an update from Roon staff, from whom we have heard nothing more since @noris post 5 days ago. Sorry to have troubled you.

You have your opinions, I have mine. That’s fine :slight_smile:

I’m just hanging out here (less so now than in the past) and usually enjoy helping other users. Occasionally I will post my opinion :slight_smile:

Anyone can be an active EA tester, all it takes is installing the EA version and choosing to spend some time on trying and reporting things. If one is so inclined.

I’m on Team Serious. I have probably 1,000 or so previously favorited songs that have disappeared and I don’t even know what they were. I spent many hours (totaling days? weeks) listening to albums and favoriting songs. I hope there is a future fix. At the very least, I would like to be able to recover a database to remind myself what songs I previously made favorites.

In all previous cases of such issues the library entries came back once the sync worked again. Don’t clean your library in the meantime.

(FWIW before words are put into my mouth, I never said it’s not a serious issue, and I doubt Roon sees it that way)

I’ve run into a problem. I only use roon with Tidal streaming. Roon runs on a macbook pro.
A few days ago, a large part of the favorite albums I had added via roon disappeared, and albums are now down to 49 in the library. I can’t add any albums, not even the lost albums that are visible in roon under Tidal.
I’ve tried synchronizing the library with Tidal under the “service” menu item without success, and I’ve tried logging out of Tidal and linking it to roon again. I’ve also logged out of Roon and restarted the macbook pro again, still with the same result 49 albums in the library. I’ve
read through “all” previous threads about a similar problem, all without success.

Edit: I have now deleted everything on my macbook and reinstalled Roon with the same result, still 49 albums. So either the error is in the software from Roon, or the error is in Tidal which I can’t figure out, and not at all when all albums are shown in Tidal!
