Description Of Issue

I noticed a few days ago I was playing songs from Roon to my TV (via Chromecast) that many songs were getting skipped. I had a list of roughly 20 Enya songs to play (all from the popular list) and it played 5, then skipped 15. I couldn’t figure out what was causing the skip, but thought it was maybe my Roon core going idle or something. I was able to reproduce the problem a couple times that day by playing the same track list though.

Later that night I went to play some songs from the artist Kavinsky and found an entire album wouldn’t play. A couple of the songs from the album were listed as unavailable, but even the ones that were listed as working would queue up, then fail to play… and after 3 fails in a row it would stop playback entirely. I assume this may have been what was causing my Enya queue to stop earlier that day. The album in question is 1986 by Kavinsky

All these songs play fine in Tidal, but the other day the entire album wouldn’t play, today still a couple are listed as unavailable. What causes this?

Here is the unavailable song playing in Tidal:

It would be nice to have the whole Tidal library available through Roon, especially cause songs that fail to playback can cause a queue to halt.

Thanks,
Mark

Hey @Mark_Maitner,

Thank you so much for reaching out about this and please, accept my apology for the delay in getting back to you

Clearly, something wasn’t quite right with the Roon + TIDAL combination. If you’re still experiencing this, would you mind:

  • Logging out of TIDAL in Roon (Settings → Services)
  • Rebooting your COre
  • Logging back into TIDAL in Roon (Settings → Services)

Thanks in advance

Hi @rebeka ,

Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately your advice didn’t work. I logged out of Tidal then rebooted my Roon Core (Now a ROCK NUC wired directly to my router) and it still has the same issue, at least the unavailability of certain tracks that should be available on Tidal (they are if you use the Tidal official app).

I went a step further and logged out of my Roon ROCK Core and set my Desktop back up as the Core, but deleting the database and cache first (from AppData\Roon). I didn’t add any local files, only linked Tidal. I get the same issue. 2 tracks of my example album (Kavinsky - 1986) are unavailable.

Any other advice on what I can try?

Thanks,
Mark

Hey @Mark_Maitner,

Thank you for the very clear description of what you’ve tried since and the persistence of the behavior. After checking with our team, it looks like we have to connect with TIDAL on this.

In the meantime, I am very sorry about the inconvenience… :pensive:

Hi @beka ,

No problem. I am assuming this problem doesn’t just affect me. I tried a completely fresh install of Roon ROCK and only linked my Tidal account (didn’t restore from backup) and the same problem presented itself.

It doesn’t seem to be a big problem, but it would be great if it could be figured out eventually.

Thanks for looking into this.
Mark
