Describe the issue

New Titan not seeing internal 8tb ssd

Describe your network setup

Araknis AN-310-rt-4l2w router to Araknis AN-310-SW-R-24-POE switch to Titan. Internal SSD is 8TB Micron MTFDDAK7T6QDE. SSD was working fine yesterday in old Nucleus+, I reformatted it to ExFat before installing in Titan. SSD in ExFat format checks out OK with MAC Disk Utility. I attached a 4TB SanDisk SSS to rear of Titan through USB-C port 1, and it works fine. I'm not getting the format button for the Internal SSD on the Titan web page.

Check your cables and connections for the disk. (By the way, reformatting to exFAT was pointless because the first thing Roon OS will do is reformat it to the Linux ext4 file system, but it shouldn’t have hurt the disk, either. Though if you hadn’t reformatted it, it would still contain the music files from the Nucleus+).

Thank you. The connections are secure, but I’m beginning to think that possibly the cable to the internal drive is faulty or that for some mysterious reason the Micron SSD that worked fine on the Nucleus+ and passes all the tests on the MAC isn’t compatible with the Titan. I’ve had weirder things happen with drives.

If I recall correctly, a few of the very first Titans had some cable trouble. There were some forum threads then, the search should turn them up. Maybe there are hints for where to look.

Hello @Tom_Hyde ,

I’ve activated diagnostics mode and I see a 4TB drive linked in your Nucleus logs. Have you been able to solve this issue by using a different drive?

The 4TB drive is connected through #1 external USB-C port and is working fine.I tried two different drives on the internal connection; same issue. The problem is a defective cable connector. A JPEG is attached.

I don’t think the connector was ever properly attached to the cable. The unit arrived yesterday and hasn’t been able to find the internal drive from the start and finally came completely apart a few minutes ago after about the fifth attach/detach cycle.

It would be nice if I could get a replacement cable quickly. I don’t think it’s necessary to return the unit as the cable replacement is obviously quite simple.

Thank you.
