Hi,
I have about 1000 compilation albums with ‘various artists’.
When i want to listen to a compilation, Roon loads all the other compilation albums in the ‘by this artist’ side bar.
All my Android and iOs devices crashes because the list is too long. The program doesn’t respond no more and quits.
No problem on my Windows 10 machine as remote, but that’s a powerfull machine.
I made a special Linux server for Roon with i7 and 32 gigs of RAM.
I’m using the 14 day trial now.

Is there a way to reduce the amount of albums shown in the similar artist bar. That would solve the problem.

Can you post a screenshot of the album screen for one of these albums?
There’s a lot of special handling we do for VA compilations that should kick in and prevent scenarios where Various Artists is treated like a normal performer. I’m wondering why that’s not happening for you.
I’m sure we can figure out what’s going on here (and add some time onto your trial once we do), but it’s worth noting I have about 1500 Various Artist albums in my library with no issues.

Maybe the problem is it’s in Dutch. Various Artists = Verschillende artiesten.
Every album with ‘Verschillende artiesten’ triggers the problem.
Ok, that explains it 
I’m going to look into this @Stijn_Lippens. If you want to change your tags to Various Artists I’m sure this will go away, but if not hang on – I’ll see what we can do here.

I can change all albums but i have 1 problem. I use Backblaze for offsite backup and it takes forever to upload 15000 changed songs.
But if this is the easiest way (for Roon - not for me ) i can consider.
21128 ALAC files…here we go.
13 months to re-upload to backblaze. I think i buy a portable hard drive for off-site backup

With various artists the ‘By This Artist’ sidebar doesn’t pop-up.
