Hey @Benjamin_Johnson, to receive appropriate help, it would be really helpful if you could complete the template provided below.

You can copy and paste it in your reply.

Please be sure to include details of your core, network, storage location of your media files, and any messages displayed by Roon.

Including these details in your first post helps resolve your issues faster.

Thank you.

Description of Issue

Tell us about the problem you’re having in as much detail as possible. Screenshots are always appreciated!

really? some of this stuff I don’t even know. Doesn’t seem like it would be this hard just to get it to play on a windows PC. And if it is this hard and support is this bad not sure if this is worth the trouble honestly. this is very frustrating.

Additionally, the specs I know are in the other thread I created.

In your other thread, you state that your Core is on a Windows 10 PC connected via wifi. Please be aware that Roon Labs strongly recommend that your Core machine should be on a wired connection.

As mentioned, the core should really be connected via ethernet not wifi. Try it out and see if that resolves your issue.

Hey @Benjamin_Johnson,

I wanted to check in on this thread to see if you were still running into playback failures when using Roon? You are in good hands here with @Rugby @Geoff_Coupe and @Carl, they are correct in stating that your core device is always in better shape when hardwired to your network.

I’ll be on standby for your reply and your status, thanks! :+1:

yes still same issue trying to play on the windows pc where core is running, Thanks. not sure if computer needs to be set up as output device for roon as well?

I understand that it probably optimal to have an ethernet connection on windows PC, but I should still be able to play something on the PC that is running the core right? And when you say optimal to have ethernet connection, you mean a wired connection to the same router my endpoint is connected to ? I have a SOtM streamer that is connected to my wireless router via ethernet. Thanks

Of course, check out Roon’s audio-setup-basics, everything’s explained there!

Hey @Benjamin_Johnson,

If possible, could you please share a screenshot of your Roon Settings>Audio? Do you see the option for system output?

If yes, but you’re not able to stream audio to the system output, try in Roon > Settings > Audio screen click the gear icon next to the PC default device, and select device setup. Then click “Load Defaults” and then Save. Let me know if you’re able to play audio from your PC system output after this. :+1:
