I was playing a CD today using Roon ARC (really, MPDluxe with Roon ARC, but that is a different story) that I have loved for years- Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt & Guy Clark, "Together At The Bluebird Cafe”. Yet the artist credits for each track, with each artist mostly playing individually, clusters all three artists together.
In reviewing the metadata using Yate, each track is split out with the artist. For example, track 1, "Baby Took A Limo To Memphis”, Guy Clark; track 2, "My Old Friend The Blues”, Steve Earle; etc.
I list all three artists as the album artist, but I was expecting each artist listed separately as the track artist. I was surprised when I checked Yate and saw that they were listed separately as the track artist.
Is that normal behavior?
Thanks,
David
Have you made any edits to this content in Roon?
No
Is the album identified in Roon?
Yes
Is this content from local files, TIDAL, or Qobuz?
I may be missing your point, and I apologize in advance, but have you tried re-setting your Import Settings so that you are using “Prefer file” only instead of “Merge Roon and file”?
(After which you should perform a force rescan of your library…)
Thanks for writing in! Good to see you on community again as well.
To confirm, you’re only seeing this issue when using Arc? Based on your screenshots you’ve shared, it looks like you’re using Roon from a computer.
We were able to review a fresh diagnostic report, and I can confirm that Roon is identifying each track under its respective library performer - for example:
Trace: Performance LibraryPerformance[89210997, LibraryWork[3144110, Baby Took a Limo to Memphis, by LibraryPerformer[1016186, Guy Clark]]]
And
Trace: Performance LibraryPerformance[89211253, LibraryWork[3143854, My Old Friend the Blues, by LibraryPerformer[1008762, Steve Earle]]]
To confirm, you are viewing the correct local version of this album, correct?
We’d be curious to see if @DDPS’s thought above would result in any changes, certainly, let us know.
@Benjamin, to your questions: To confirm, you’re only seeing this issue when using Arc?
No, I see this behavior using Roon and Roon ARC. Note that in Roon ARC, the arrangement of the artists shifts and not in the order of the lead artist:
Thanks for the detailed follow-up! To give our team the most accurate approach to reproducing the issue, could you please upload the issue tracks you’re working with? Here’s the upload link:
