In my library I have an album by Julie London and I also have two albums where she appears on a track, but only one of the albums appears in the section “appearance in my library”.

The “Appearances” section is meant for appearances on main albums of other artists (in duets for example). Tracks by an artist on VA compilations have their own section called “Compilations” (what the missing album seems to be). Sadly the album details from the missing album are hidden by the track details, so I have to guess: the album is unidentified in Roon and therefore not marked as a compilation?
To resolve this, go to the album editor and ensure that it is marked as compilation.

I’ve changed the Lady Love album,n it’\ now a compilation but I don’t see an “compilation” section at , “Julie London”. When I select “discography” I get a bunch of Qobuz and Tidal
albums (250, not in my library) an a compilation section now with eight albums including the “lady Love” album. The other 15 are marked with the Tidal and Qobuz markers.
Is this expected behavior, or is a “setting” causing this?
BTW to search for “Julie London” typing Jullie London" give no result. “Search” should use AI. Apparently I have a diffident perception of intelligence than the I in AI 
You may have to restart your Roon client, your Roon core to clear caches maybe? I don’t see any issues on my installation, even content from unidentified VA compilations is correctly showing up. As there is no new piece of information, I have nothing else to offer.
I can’t help you with your questions regarding the discography – I don’t use streaming services at all.
Note: Discography was also not part of the OP.
