Describe your network setup

Unifi setup at home, mobile data with phone in car, connected to volvo head unit via bt.

Hi @Jure_Zitnik,
Thanks for writing in to ask us about this issue. It seems like this will need to be brought to our development team for an investigation. To help the investigation move efficiently I need two things from you.

  1. The make and model of the head unit you are using.
  2. A recording of the head unit showing the missing metadata. You can use this link to upload the recording.

Once we have these we can begin our investigation. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Well this is really a hassle, I’ll try to provide the recording. Can you at least tell me that you’re aware of this issue and it will be looked into even if I don’t? It’s not the first time someone’s complained about this.

  1. The car is Volvo XC70 my2012, it’s the stock infotainment system
  2. I’ve uploaded the video demonstrating track info not working, then disconnecing bluetooth, then again connecting, so you can see that the track info starts showing after that. It’s like that every time the car (re)starts and it’s quite a pain. I’ve started using google music again because of this.

Hi @Jure_Zitnik,
Thank you for providing the video for us. I’ve passed it on to our QA team and this investigation should be able to move forward now. When QA gets back to us with next steps we will let you know here. We really appreciate you cooperation and patience with this process.

Hi @Jure_Zitnik,
Our developer have taken a look at your case and they had a couple of questions to help them narrow down where the problem is. Does the correct metadata show in “Now Playing” on your phone? Do you see metadata on the head unit when playing music from other apps?

Hey @daniel,
Yes, the metedata is all correct on the phone when playing from ARC, as is on the head unit when playing from Youtube Music. I haven’t checked playing from the Roon app itself (using the phone as endpoint), but I can also test that. Let me get back to you on that.

We’ll be on standby for your results @Jure_Zitnik!

Investigating this a bit more, what are the specific chain of events that cause the lack of metadata populating in your car? Is it:

  1. Turn car on
  2. Car Bluetooth auto-connects to Arc
  3. Arc playback starts without metadata populating

Is Arc already open when this happens? If you turn your car on, wait a minute, then open Arc fresh for the first time, and then connect, does the same issue occur?

Another quick side test - does this happen over both your home wifi as well as cellular data?

Thank you!
