I’m looking for guidance on transferring music from Roon unto a CD or thumb drive…
I am not at all versed in much of anything pertaining to tech or computers etc… so my apologies in advance for my lack of knowledge on this stuff… past experience has usually been me going through a long frustrating process to do what someone knowledgeable can do effortlessly and quickly so I’m reaching out for guidance in a most simple straightforward way if possible.
I currently have a Roon Nucleus Plus with an active Roon subscription and I use Tidal as well to get the music from that I listen to and make playlists of via the Roon platform.
So my question is if I wanted the ability to take some select songs from the songs on my room playlist and put them on a CD or a thumb drive so that I can listen to them in my car how would I go about it?
My current vehicle has CD only it doesn’t have provisions for a thumb drive or USB port so a CD would be ideal but I’m told there’s a way to be able to adapt thumb drive to a CD player?
Perhaps there’s an easier simpler way to accomplish what I’m trying to do rather than using Roon… I just figured with Roon I already have all the songs right there already in a playlist…
If anyone has any input please try to keep it simple… if you start rambling these tech terms you will quickly lose me… ‘Im a fairly smart guy😂… well depending who you ask😂… but for whatever reason when it comes to this stuff I just can’t seem to figure my way with navigating through it and get confused and frustrated so any help would be much appreciated…
Once I know how the first thing I’m going to do is make a CD for a girl I know as a Christmas gift because she has often said she likes my taste in music and I once said I would try to figure out how to put some of my favorite songs on a CD and give it to her and she said she would cherish it forever… so know your help is for a good cause😊
Hi, if you’re looking at making a cd out of tidal music or copy tidal music to a usb stick, you can’t.
You can do so with music you have on file in the nucleus.
Just copy the files from the nucleus you want to make a cd of to a laptop or computer with access to a cd burner.
As @Grasshopper says, you can’t do this for music that is sourced from a streaming service, only for your own local files.
If your Playlist is of these local files, then you can Export the playlist. Open your playlist and click the “3 dots” menu on the right to choose the Export option:
Make sure your stereo supports the file formats you have as not all older ones support all formats if your using an SDCard. Mine doesn’t support flac only mp3 and aac.
I tried exporting last week using latest build on my MacBook Pro it crashes Roon server. I have a ticket in but no reply. Not sure if it’s just me or exporting Mac or in any platform. Need to test it on my windows laptop.
There was an issue back in 2020 with Exporting from a Mac - perhaps a regression has occurred. Let’s see what Support say when it gets to the head of their queue…
We’re getting off-topic here. I see that you’ve added this log extract to your support request, so suggest that this conversation carries on there. Thanks.
Another option for the OP maybe get their friend a band camp voucher and allow them to download the tracks onto their own system?
Assuming the music is on BC of course.
