Transport: Couldn't connect to HQPlayer [Solved]

Hi,

I’ve just installed microRendu and the Roon trial today. However, I can’t get roon to play in the microRendu zone. I’ve followed the instructions provided by roon and sonore, but whenever I try to play anything from my media library (or from Tidal), I get the "“Transport: Couldn’t connect…” error. The music plays okay in the System Output zone (where the core is located). Please help, I’m a newbie, and know I must be overlooking some detail to get it working. Thanks in advance!

You mention Roon and the mRendu, but where does HQPlayer (in the thread title) fit in all this?

The thread title is the exact error message I get “Transport: Couldn’t connect to HQPlayer” I just truncated the error message in my post.

To clarify, RoonReady is active in the mRendu App Switcher, not HQPlayer NAA.

When you Settings/Audio do you see the mRendu under network options? If so, then you should give it a name and select it as your output. If not, then please take screen pics of your audio settings so we can see what might be going on.

Yes, I can see the mRendu in the network options.

Hi @Robert_Cardarelli,

In Roon Settings–> Audio Devices I think you may have added the IP address of MicroRendu using the “added network device” [HQP] section.

If so you need to remove this configuration and just let Roon discover the MicroRendu with attached DAC for itself.

Make sure both the MicroRendu and DAC are active.

Yes, you are correct that I did add the microRendu using the add network device function in Roon. So, I’ve removed it as requested. However, Roon does not discover the microRendu by itself (the microRendu was discovered successfully by my Windows 10 PC but not by the Roon application). I currently have no option to select it in Roon.

Is the microRendu in RoonReady mode?

Hi Robert,

USB connections can’t be detected over a network until they are active. I understand this is inherent to all USB connections, not just Roon.

Check that your DAC/Preamp is connected to the mR, switched on and that the USB input is selected. Check that the mR has the Roon Ready app selected in the web interface. The mR should then appear as a selectable Zone in Roon.

If those things are confirmed, but you don’t see the mR, try restarting everything (Core, mR, DAC) and see if that helps.

If the problem persists after that then we’ll get the support devs involved.

Well, restarting everything did the trick! Thank you and everyone else on this tread for all the help.

Glad to hear it is working for you. Enjoy the music!

Pleased you are listening to the music again Robert. The Roon KB User Guide is a good resource to help come to grips with Roon
