I’m struggling a bit with some genres. For example, I have searched for “swing” and then choose it as a genre. The screen offers Swing as a genre option, and has a shuffle button available, but it can’t be clicked. I get the same result on the Windows software and the iOS apps. How do I actually play those genre?
I just tried what you listed and it works fine, but what I noticed is, the albums are all my local content, so if I click Shuffle, it plays my local content, but if I click the selector carrot and click Roon Radio, it plays something from Qobuz or Tidal. Try both and post what you get, local content or Tidal/Qobuz content?
Hmm yes. But I find that sorting a bit useless. Sorting my library for sawing has returned some swing albums, but a whole lot of non-swing albums - Probably I wasn’t so diligent when importing them.
My display shows Artists, then a 2nd line of Albums, which in my case are all in my local library, your screen shot does not show any albums?? I’m subscribed to both Tidal and Qobuz, take one of my 1st 3 albums, go to your streaming service and add it to your library and try this again and post a screen shot, but it’s clear to see your Shuffle button is not active, I’m guessing it has no local music to play. Also I mentioned the Roon Radio option, go to your settings and under Play Actions, make sure Roon Radio is turned on, I’m not sure which one is correct, so add it too all and retest and try the down carrot and Roon Radio selection.
Adding one album from yours has indeed activated Swing. In my local library of CDs that have been ripped there is quite a bit of Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway. Heck, there’s even The Blues Brothers soundtrack album you have in there, yet not appeared as suggestions.
My guess is that the Genre functionality is limited auto your local music, and the Roon Radio appears to span or cover both local and Tidal/Qobuz, try out the Roon Radio too.
Hmm, I’m starting to get somewhere. I also noticed that the imported genres totally nuts - like Alison Moyet’s Raindancing album each track in Roon had a genre that matched the name of the track, but when inspected with Picard or dbPoweramp the genres were sane.
I’ve converted all the ALAC files to FLAC and the tags have become sane inside Roon. I’m assuming that the root cause is something about how the ALAC tracks were tagged.
