I’m new to Roon and have a multichannel set up as well. I see this sending ‘stereo as stereo’ to allow for AVR based multichannel upmix was taken care of and it’s great! However, I have a related issue. All my multichannel music is 5.1 and I have a 7.2.4 system. My Denon AVR 3700H can upmix from stereo or 5…1 or 7.1 to Atmos (7.2.4 in my case). The issue I’m having is that for some reason the 5.1 set up in Roon just doesn’t work. I have to choose 7.1, so consequently my AVR thinks that 7.1 is coming through and so won’t upmix to 7.1. I’m running an Intel NUC8i7HVK with Windows 10. Does anyone run a similar set up and is able to get 5.1 to be seen as 5.1?
Hello and welcome to the community.
Not sure I’m understanding the issue. I have a NUC/ROCK connected to my Denon 8500H via HDMI with a 7.2.4 speaker arrangement.
In device setup I have the Channel Layout as 5.1 and Mutlichannel Mixing set to Downmix as Needed.
If Roon sends MC the receiver displays Multi_channel and the sound is played as 5.2 using the rear surrounds for the back channel. If I have the Channel Layout as 7.1 the signal still comes through as 5.2 but the side surrounds are used for the back Channel.
If Roon sends Stereo the receiver displays Stereo. For the Stereo signal I have the receiver use the Doubly Surround processor to simulate surround and it plays through all the speakers in 7.2.4
How are you connected and what setting are you using in device setup?
