After a few months of hard work, I’m excited to let you all know that you can now set up a Tuneshine to connect directly to Roon. Tuneshine is a lo-fi album art display that’s meant to be a tasteful, understated, and joyful addition to your living room, office, or anywhere else you listen to music.
A lot of Tuneshine users have been using last.fm as a bridge between Tuneshine and Roon, but I’m happy to say that you can now set it up directly to talk to Roon over your LAN. The integration is completely cloud-free and does not require an account, and the art updates in about <1 second with a couple of options for animated transitions.
I have more info on my dedicated Roon integration page and I’m happy to answer any other questions in this thread.

Nice and neat!
Does it display station logo when playing Roon Live Radio?
I wish your product could be distributed in Europe
Glad you’re in to it!
I believe it should show the station image, but I just checked and it looks like I actually have a bug and I’m not constructing the image URL correctly for live radio stations. I will let you know when I fix this!
Thanks very much for working on this!

After setting up Roon in the Tuneshine app and enabling the extension in Roon settings how do I choose the zones for Tuneshine? No Tuneshine listed under Displays in Roon settings. Any help appreciated.
The zone selection happens in the Tuneshine app, but if you have a very large number of zones you may need to install a beta version of the latest firmware that will be coming out soon which increases the maximum size of the zone payload. I saw I got an email from you as well—I’ll send you the details there.

Hi Tobias - just got my Tuneshine and looking forward to using it with Roon. I am having trouble getting it up and running though. I cannot get past the “Connecting to Tuneshine…loading configuration” page on the app. Have uninstalled/reinstalled the app and tried on both my iPhone and iPad. Have also tried unplugging/replugging the Tuneshine. I’m stuck - hope you can help. Thanks!
Hi Richard! It’s likely that something got stuck during the firmware update during the setup process. To get around this
- Go to your phone’s bluetooth settings and “forget” the Tuneshine
- Plug in the Tuneshine and hold the reset button on the back for about 8 seconds until the Tuneshine restarts
This will retain the firmware update and should let you continue setup. It’s a bug I’m going to fix in the next app version. Sorry about that!
Thanks Tobias! That did the trick and we are up and rocking! Looks great!

Hi @TobiasFromTuneshine! I just got my Tuneshine a few days ago and have synced it with Roon. It works for a while but then stops syncing and just shows stale artwork. It seems it works intermittently. When it stops syncing with Roon I’m also unable to connect through the app. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Dave
Hi David,
It’s likely that this is due to some Wi-Fi shakiness between the Tuneshine and your Wi-Fi. The first thing I would try is setting your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi in your router settings to manually use channel 1, rather than having it auto-select the channel. This can often result in a much more stable experience. Let me know how it goes!
