Probably got my vinyl around then followed by the CD . It still gets a regular listen Eric & Steve at their peak to me
Listened to it last night, as a matter of fact. Love it. But alas, my LP collection from college, with a lot of choice LP’s in it, is now for decoration. I am strictly a digital guy now!
The only way to go Philip!
Me too , my vinyl was a casualty of emigration . There was no room in the container .
I have been fully digital for around 10 years
Milou’s rear paw pads while sleeping - at 14 years old she does sleep a lot
Our little nest of spotted doves for the umpteenth time in the last 10 years, we get green neck pigeons from time to time too
Well, there are of course the die-hard vinyl fans who will differ, but honestly, when I was trying out a VAC Renaissance V pre that had a built-in phono pre, I thought that it my be the perfect time to hook up my TT and see how my albums sounded. They sounded good, but there is always the background noise in the grooves and the “snap, crackle and pop” from the occasional album. Plus, I had to get up from my chair every 20 minutes and try to figure out what I would put on next, clean it, etc. My digital rig sounds great, my digitized albums have some of the crackling and background noise if I feel nostalgic, and Roon curates everything after the album is over. So for me, I will stay with digital!
Plus, I think that my music cats prefer it! Here’s Irma enjoying a nice rest on my old Naim NDX, which she prefers over the MSB DAC power supply, LOL! (Irma was also abandoned at about 5 weeks old outside during Hurricane Irma and we rescued her as well).
Philip, Vinyl has soooo many issues that fan boys completely ignore. A simple item like Stylus dimensions …when you change your stylus you must continue to use one that is as close to your current one as possible because the current stylus being used is making a Needle-print in all your albums… That and occasionally I like play my music loud. 90+db or so…that induces feedback as your cartridge becomes like a microphone. Anyway to each his own… my journey with Roon the last 7 years has allowed me to listen to way more music selected from my iPad than any vinyl that would have been spinning… Your house pet collection show how big your heart is and I’m sure all your pets appreciate that too! Irma is a very pretty kitty and comfortably warm as well!
Same here. I started with the Naim NDX Streamer/dac, pre-Roon, which came with a darn good proprietary app on my iPad to access my music server. Then I replaced that with the MSB DAC, and like you, run everything from a dedicated iPad next to my music chair. For me, no going back. Plus, Roon not only has the album artwork, but just plays as long as I want to listen! Lord Saucy, whom we rescued at about 6 months old after being abandoned on the streets when his owners apparently took off in the middle of the night, is the major audiopheline in the house though. He loves sleeping on my lap while I listen to tunes! Here is a better picture of Lord Saucy.
Yeah, we’re crazy cat people. 5 rescues and we feed a colony of about 10 outside! Irma, Einstein and Lord Saucy are the only ones that like to hang in the music room. The other two rather watch Cat TV, LOL!
That’s a very pretty boy, Lord Saucy!!
Someone needs to tell Lord Saucy that there is more heat available on your gear stack than the bathroom…
LOL! He follows me around like a puppy, so wherever I go, he goes. I am an attorney and he even made a guest appearance when I was appearing in Court via Zoom. I introduced him as my paralegal and the judge made a finding on the record that he was a very handsome cat, LOL!
Ok. I will get in on the cat pictures. This is Tom Sawyer. He is owned by a good friend who shares his wood shop with me.
You mean the cats caught you!
