That is sad. Our property is 2.5 acres, about 10,000 sq ft landscaped around the house then the rest of the property is still original with trees, thick vegetation, old pond covered with green algae etc. We have a feeding/watering area setup on one side of the house with numerous Bird feeders and various critter feeders. My wife puts out food for all the critters she sees. Fox, raccoon, rabbit, squirrel, opossum, all but skunks are welcome. Every day she puts out 10 lbs of Fruit and Nut bird seed, pans of cut up fruit and veggies, whatever they will eat. We watch out a 6’ by 6’ window or sit on the patio at all the activity. We have families of Foxes that stop by at night to visit, feed and whatever.
We never know what happens to them as they just stop showing up. Then others take there place.
All the animals tolerate us, stopping whatever they are doing when we come out, to watch us fill the feeders, baths and watering stations. You can tell the new comers, they run off while the old timers just stop and watch.
Our critter feeding budget is about $150 a week, If things get tight it will be us going hungry and not them.
We can sit in the dark and watch them for hours. I’m not sure its a good thing but it sure was interesting to see Squirrel discover grapes and figure out how to consume them.
Such gorgeous animals.
I also built a Roon server with an Akasa case a few years ago. Was running Windows 10 on it. Ran Roon and Minim until MS killed Win10 and said the hardware does not support Win11. Went wtih Linux for a while and now just running ROCK. Total overkill. BTW cute feline there. Have had cats all my life but now can’t keep any since the last one died as my son is very allergic to them. ![]()
You probably could have but your legs would be attacked.
My grand mom used to steam or stir fry the cheapest and stinkiest fish for our cats and they loved it. One time the market ran out of those fish and we bought fish that people fish. The cat was not interested at all.
Our cats are Sibireans and as such hypoallergic, although very fluffy. ![]()
THAT is a happy dog!
You get to an age, the kids depart.
Then they realise you are a convenient dropping off point. Just got rid of the human grandkids yesterday and..
But you love it really
.
Yesterday, I got to meet our new Peregrine Falcon, “Pebble”, where I volunteer. Such an impressive and beautiful creature! ![]()
Not sure the mouse or the bird would agree, did you get a “present” later
Not on that occasion but he is quite a mouser. He brought three live mice this week and gifted them to our youngest cat, Roxy.
What a great little person
