OK, I’m new to this, so I might be asking a question that’s already been answered somewhere, but I couldn’t find it.
I’ve somewhat accidentally ended up with two Roon cores. One runs on a Nucleus+ and the other on a Mytek Brooklyn Bridge II. When I bought the Mytek I didn’t realise Roon was the only decent way to get music playing - I use it mainly for listen on headphones.
I don’t understand how I can manage both in the Roon app. I’m happy to have two account (subscriptions?), but how do I manage the two in the app. I really don’t want to mess about de-registering and re-registering every time I want to use one or the other. Also, I’d rather not leave the Mytek on the whole time as it runs pretty hot.
You don’t really need two. One Roon server is enough, you can control it from any number of remote control devices and it can feed several outputs.
The Brooklyn Bridge is Roon Ready, so all you need to do is connect it to the network and the Nucleus should find it as a streamer/DAC.
Does the BB have a Roon server (core) built in as well? Then you can probably deactivate it in the BB settings.
yeah that’s an expensive accident!
TBH, i didn’t even realize the Brooklyn Bridge could run a Roon Core/server. You learn something new every day, amiright?
I don’t know if you are paying monthly, or if you bought lifetimes, but you can certainly get rid of one.
The Brooklyn Bridge II does have a Roon Core server built in. Are you suggesting that I use it as a Roon endpoint instead? If so, I’ll have to see if I can turn off the Core in the BBII.
I bought a second one on a free trial to see if I could make the whole setup work.
Yes, either that or use the BB as the Roon server and lose the Nucleus
So the $3,000 difference between I and II is just for the Roon server? Also, does the server in the DAC update at the same pace as the Nucleus?
You can have multiple Roon servers with one Roon subscription, but you only need one server. All you need to do is activate the one you want to use and never activate the other one. That’s all.
Now that Roon has combined their software into one application, every computer or laptop is going to have a Roon server app installed. Just don’t launch it.
Understood. I’ll try doing just that.
It Runs RoonOs so I would think so.
Hello Keith,
Mytek Brooklyn Bridge II (BB2) has a Roon Core built in and it’s a Intel i5 11th gen which is more powerful than your Nucleus+. Unless you do want to keep Nucleus for some reason, if BB2 remains on the same network, the Nucleus is redundant. You can migrate the history of the Roon system from Nucleus+ (see manual on mytek.audio/support) and then remove the Nucleus+ from the system and keep using just the BB2 which can run multiple streams for example one for your main room and another for your headphones. BB2 is deigned to be on all the time. Hope this helps, Happy New Year, Michal at Mytek
And, sell the Nucleus.
