Yes, highly deserved. I’ve heard Sorey live with Iyer a couple of times, the density of overlapping rhythms he spins out is hypnotic. But if possible he’s even greater as a composer. Have you listened to his recent album Verisimilitude (Pi Recordings, available on Bandcamp for a nice low price)? He has a recent profile in the NYT that is very much worth reading.
Yes, Verisimilitude is great.
But I haven’t had a chance to hear him live, unfortunately…
