The distributors (wholesalers) took their cut and then the retailers would add a further 33% for their costs (and this was reasonable given the need to pay staff, rental for the premises etc). All this was associated with the need to transport and store physical products - of which a certain percentage would not be sold, or sold at a loss to clear inventory.
Probably down to all the Amazon âAlexaâ style devices. My mum uses hers and wouldnât know what a streaming service is, let alone which one she is usingâŚ
