· cannot access the data shared directory on a new installation of rock. I have enabled guest access following the security patch on windows 11 but i now get an unspecified error. I get this error after being prompted for the username and password. when trying from a chromebook it says the specified share could not be found on the network. i can access the server via the web front end without issue. I have tried using \\rock\data and the IP address and get the same result. I was using rock on a proxmox VN but decided to move it to its own dedicated system to speed it up.

· Im on a Sky router. im using a netgear prosafe 5 port switch. i have an extensive wifi system utilising 4 internal and two external extenders. The PC and the Rock are both Lan connections direct from the netgear switch. I am using static IP addresses. I am using fing network analyser and can see the rock server on the network. ports 22, 80, 139 & 445 are listed as open.
This might help … if not Roon support will be along to provide further assistance.

From your description, it sounds like you’re running into a known issue caused by Microsoft tightening security. The username and password is still guest and guest, to access Roon OS, but now you’ll have to perform a few extra steps to tell Windows that it’s OK to connect to your ROCK system as well.
Please follow the steps linked in the article @Carl has helpfully shared above.
Windows 11 has now disabled guest fallback permissions by default for third-party NASs. This means you’ll be unable to access the ROCK as a network share location from Windows 11 until you re-enable guest fallback.
We’ll watch for a response in case you need any further assistance. Thanks!
